Send messages

Send a WhatsApp text inside the 24-hour window or an approved template at any time.

POST /v1/messages sends on the phone number tied to your API key. to is the customer’s phone number with country code. GreenTick strips formatting and validates the number before it calls WhatsApp.

Find phoneNumberRef with GET /v1/phone-numbers. Find approved template names with GET /v1/templates?status=APPROVED.

Text inside the customer service window

Text sends only succeed within 24 hours of the customer’s last message.

Text messages cannot be scheduled.

Approved template

Templates can start a conversation. Variables are named, and the names must match the template.

Optional template fields:

• headerMediaUrl for an image, video, or document header
• dynamicURLVariable when a URL button has a variable suffix
• copyCodeVariable for a copy-code button
• scheduledAt to send later. An offset or Z is that exact instant. A value without a zone uses the timezone from GET /v1/api-key

A successful response includes messageId, the WhatsApp message id (wamid), and conversationId. The same conversation then shows in Live Chat.

Fetch messages with GET /v1/conversations/{id}/messages.

Mark an inbound message read with POST /v1/messages/read and the GreenTick messageId. Cancel a scheduled template with DELETE /v1/messages/scheduled/{id}.
