# Schedule a WhatsApp broadcast with MCP

> Preview how many contacts will receive a WhatsApp broadcast, then have an assistant schedule the approved template.

A broadcast sends one approved template to many contacts. The assistant does not schedule it until `preview_broadcast` has returned a recipient count and you have asked to schedule.

## Ask this

```text theme={null}
Create a broadcast draft for the approved template festive_offer in en to +14155550123 and +14155550124. Preview how many people will receive it and stop there. I will tell you if I want it scheduled.
```

After you accept the count:

```text theme={null}
Schedule that broadcast for Friday at 10:00 in the account timezone.
```

## What the assistant calls

**1. Draft**

`create_broadcast` takes `templateName` and `language`. The template must already be `APPROVED`. The result is a `PENDING` draft and does not send. Pass label ids in `labelIds` as an array from `list_labels`, or a name in `label` or `labels`. Ids and names can be sent together. Phone numbers are optional when a label is set. For each placeholder, ask whether it is the same value for everyone or comes from a contact field. If it comes from a contact, also ask what to do when that field is empty: send a default value, or don't send to that contact. A value the customer already gave does not need to be asked again. For a media header, ask whether to use the template sample or a different file. Pass `phoneNumberRef` when the account has more than one number.

**2. Preview**

`preview_broadcast` counts recipients. The assistant shows you that count. `schedule_broadcast` stays blocked until you accept it.

**3. Schedule**

`schedule_broadcast` takes `scheduledDateTime`. The time is at least 5 minutes from now and within 30 days. The assistant calls this only after you ask.

`delete_broadcast` can delete a broadcast that is still `PENDING` or `QUEUED`. A broadcast that has started, finished, or is inside the last minute before it starts cannot be deleted.
